A day has passed since the majority of the cast names were given for Trax’s new Captain Planet movie. Fans of the animated environmental superhero show buzzed with anticipation over the identity of the title character. Who would play Captain Planet?
It took little time for the Organization of Richard Grieco Aficionados to chime in with their thoughts. The ORGA, one of two fan clubs for the 21 Jump Street actor in HTG Hollywood, believes that their idol should proclaim “The power is yours!”
“He was Booker, for goodness sake!” exclaimed ORGA president Morton Hightower during a rally yesterday in front of the Trax Productions offices. “Richard remembers Captain Planet. Heck, that show and 21 Jump Street used to rule the airwaves! Plus… Doesn’t he look like Captain Planet? He’s a natural!”
A representative from Trax Productions made an appearance later, informing that the casting of Grieco would not be possible.
“We have already commenced shooting,” the rep announced. “We do have a person already cast in the Captain Planet role. It is someone that you are acquainted with, and we feel that he will bring the character to live in a very pleasing way. Thank you for the interest in the film. We hope that you will enjoy it.”
Disappointed, the ORGA members promised to keep fighting for more roles for Grieco.
“I guess we can keep up our letter writing campaign to the Sci-Fi Channel,” Hightower concluded before leaving in his mother’s SUV.
The Captain Planet movie is set for February 28.
