It’s That Time Again

Martin Short is still not funny. No one in HTG Hollywood wishes to use him. Such a waste.

This has been your Martin Short Is Not Funny Update Moment. Thank you.

What’s Wrong With This Picture?

Do you see it? The mystifying puzzle in the above pic? Hmm? (That is, besides the misspelling that keeps appearing, even though it occasionally gets corrected by a certain game admin, haha.)

Yes, Miracle Pictures is releasing a big chunk of the movies out at the HTG theatres now. Six of the twenty out at this time, in fact, are releases of that “back up” studio. Oh, don’t get me wrong. Presenting critical hits and box office smashes are a thrill. But, really, where are the other studios?

Marlowe, studio chief of Miracle Pictures (and EIC of this news source), has spent 15 of the last 21 days out of state. And he’s going to spend 15 of the next 21 away as well. He doesn’t have time to release all of the good flicks. He does have the new Ninjalibrarian film, Ode to Tennessee, slated for November. (Keep an eye out for ads!) And a couple producers are knocking on his door with feverish intensity. Marlowe even has a movie he’s working on. And then there are promises for a half dozen others.

And remember the two franchises that he purchased earlier this year so that two HTG writers could pen adaptations for MP? They’ll come eventually. (Crossing fingers.)

So, back to the big question… If Marlowe is out of town 73% of the time, why is he releasing 75% of the recent movies? (Three of the last four out.) C’mon, fellow studio heads! Let’s see some product out there!

And to those award-winning or potentially award-winning producers who wish to release with Miracle… thank you for your patience. Marlowe will be back regularly soon.

Mac and HMTV Nab Actress

It took the publicity sensitive people at Disney just over a month to fire Vanessa Hudgens after several provocative pictures (including one nude photo) of the High School Musical star leaked online. Quick to snatch (sorry, no pun intended) her up are the folks at Hand Made TV, who highlight her in the new Mac the Movieguy drama Lake Hope.

“What’s the big deal?” pondered a rep from HMTV. “Vanessa was skinny and 18. Isn’t getting naked and taking pictures of herself what she’s supposed to do? Besides, we’ve already seen the worst, what else could happen? If Disney wanted to fire someone, they should have fired that little freak Zac Efron. I don’t even want to know what kind of leaked crap he’s gonna have. Probably something involving a ball gag and him being bent over in a horse stable.”

Although Lake Hope got off to a slow start last week, HMTV has high hopes for the show.

“Like Mac says,” continued the network source, “there’s never been a better time to start watching. Getting in on the ground floor of the new series is a bonus.”

Lake Hope shows Tuesday nights on Hand Made TV. Starring alongside Hudgens is Jeffrey Dean Morgan, formally of Grey’s Anatomy.

Social Snafu Causes Brief Filming Delay

The road to a successful film release isn’t always a smooth one. With the opening of the 10,000 Cases movie Until 5 on slate for Friday the 12th, Miracle Pictures head Marlowe is taking an overdue breather.

“There seemed to be something coming up all the time,” remarked the studio chief. “Paparazzi were hounding the talents involved, trying their best to get the stars into compromising positions. Embarrassing news reports involving the Until 5 actors, even the producer, popped up. They served no purpose other than to demean what I would call excellent work on the film.”

Commencement of shooting got off to a rough start when two of the talents were replaced.

“Originally we had Elisha Cuthbert and Emile Hirsch in the film,” Marlowe explained. “But they were fired by Bish (10,000 Cases producer Bryan Bishop) because of a faux pas at an early meeting of the cast and crew.”

According to a studio insider, Bryan Bishop became infuriated when someone passed gas at the closing benediction to the film’s first all-staff meeting. The gathering was meant to be a “pep talk” to everyone involved, but it quickly became a witch hunt when someone “let one rip” during the blessing.

“Bishop went nuts,” said the studio source. “He yelled and yelled, wanting to know who farted. He wasn’t allowing anyone to get started on their work until the culprit stepped forward. It took a while, but eventually Emile Hirsch confessed. When the young actor said that he didn’t think that it was such a big deal, Bishop fired him. Right there. And when Emile’s friend, Elisha Cuthbert, protested, Bishop fired her, too.”

Replacing the two talents took very little time. Deals were struck with Bishop favorite Matthew Trixie, still hot from his starring role in Americatown, and Lost actress Evangeline Lilly.

“Let’s get this puppy in the can,” exclaimed Bishop as the shooting began.

Until 5, a Judd Apatow film, premiers this coming Friday. Besides Trixie and Lilly, the movie features Seth Rogen, Jonah Hill, Paul Rudd, Michael Cera, Christina Applegate, America Ferrera and Julia Louis-Dreyfuss.
