Haunted Offices?

by Rotor

People passing by Rotor productions offices at 6 Lee Lane may have wondered why there was absolutely no activity when A Monster in NY, Rotor’s latest blockbuster, is slowly nearing the 100 M mark and What Becomes of the Broken Hearted is released 2nd December.

Well, a minority pretends that it’s because Adam West buried MrT there and pays a hefty sum to Rotor each week for keeping the place closed. Some truly malevolent minds whisper that Rotor is having a torrid affair with the Times EIC behind closed doors. But the majority of the Club Siberia gossip is much more far-fetched: Lee Lane would be haunted! Children’s voices would be heard coming from nowhere, tables would move by themselves and blood would drip from the walls. There were talks about odors, too, but these
could be traced to the Htg town sewer system and Mayor West’s “savings”. Anyway, if the opinions diverge about the manifestations of the haunting, the Club Siberia crowd is unanimous about the cause of the haunting:
Centuries before, a Pueblo Indian village occupied the site of Htg town. One day, these peaceful Indians were slaughtered by a roving gang of Mexican outlaws. And the bodies were all dumped in a makeshift grave located
precisely at the place which is today Lee Lane. The long dead Indians would be demanding a proper burial and ceremony.

By an amusing coincidence, Rotor Productions is looking for an Indian Shaman “to work in an undisclosed future project”. If you know one, phone them. There’s a hefty reward. To conclude, if you want this writer’s opinion, none of the stories exclude the other ones. The three of them may well be true.

Thanksgiving Bummer

A rambling from Marlowe

This time of year is generally difficult for me. I have no family nearby, so sitting down with loved ones for Thanksgiving or Christmas doesn’t happen. I make up for it by working a lot. But several months ago I determined that I don’t like working for the company that I’m with now. So working extra to keep my mind off of holiday blahs isn’t helping any this year. It’s only making it worse.

Bummer.

The new job that I was up for with another company (at more pay and more benefits — yea!) no longer exists. The company chose to go a different direction. The search continues.

Bummer.

My action against State Farm, who is my home insurance carrier, has hit a snag. I may not be seeing the money that they owe me until April. Bastards.

Bummer.

My father passed on September 1 after a 15-year illness. I knew that he was due, so I wasn’t in shock. I’ll miss his advice, though, and discussing various events from my childhood that I try to avoid remembering, but my father always thought of with fondness.

Bummer.

And, for some reason, I am particularly saddened at the passing of actor Pat Morita. I don’t know why. Entertainers come and go. I guess it’s because Mr. Morita always amused me with whatever he did. Sure, we all know that the “wax on, wax off” instruction that Mr. Miyagi gave Daniel in The Karate Kid was bogus, but it’s stuck in our noggins. His portrayal of Arnold on Happy Days was usually funny. Oh, well. I guess he just happened to die at a time that I was bummed.

Htgstore is sponsoring a Pat Morita-themed news story reward dealio. Wander over to the Freelance Journalists thread on the HTG message board to check that out.

Oh, well, back to work. I’m sure that there’s someone who needs help doing something easy enough for a four-year-old to accomplish. Crazy. At least the money’s good.

Hype Diner Opens For Business

by Ste300

This week saw the opening of a new place for Hollywood residents to go and eat at. I have never been to one of them, and Blacksmith tells us all about his new place ‘The Hype Diner’. From what I have seen they are currently being visited by the likes of Meryl Streep, David Cronenberg and Barry Sonnenfeld. I know of one person who has dined there.

FSKesslar was the first Hollywood to my knowledge to sample the food and look chat to the famous faces there, here’s what he said.

“The Hype is a lot of fun. I just dropped in for lunch, so I missed the entertainment, but I did spot Sam Neill hyping the pants off of Jurassic Park 4. I schmoozed it up with him for a while and we discussed the possibility of a part for him in my upcoming film Blackburn. All in all, I give The Hype a thumbs up.”

Seems to me a good place to dine, and others have commented on the experience. Even local owner of the Book And Brew ninjalibrarian said:

“Oh man! That milkshake was to DIE for!!”

With everything pointing toward the Hype Diner looking like a strong competitor in the race to fill our stomachs I shall be dining there soon. But first what did the owner Blacksmith have to say on his new diner? I caught up with him flipping burger down there.

Ste: Why did you decide to open a diner?

Blacksmith: When it was first suggested that offices could be used for restaurants, I got very excited, because that opened HTG town wide open to a whole era of development. I think that as time goes on, a lot of casting will be done at the clubs and restaurants and will encourage people to think outside the box when they have a film to cast and talent vouchers to use. And quite often, a producer gets a big name talent at a considerably reduced price, so in a lot of ways, it’s like the lottery. You never know what kind of deals are going to be made at these places!

Ste: Tell us why it’s called the ‘Hype Diner’

Blacksmith: Because Coming Soon Café didn’t have that pop I was looking for. Seriously, from the very beginning I envisioned a place that featured movie memorabilia and offered customers a chance to get excited about upcoming HTG releases. Besides the music and food, I wanted the Hype Diner to be the hip place for people to find out the next big movie coming from HTG.

Ste: What are you offering that your rival restaurants aren’t?

Blacksmith: At the Hype Diner, we offer the best burgers in town, as well as milkshakes that bring in customers from all over the world! But the most unique feature of the diner is the ability for Studios and Producers to use the Diner’s facilities to advertise and gain buzz for upcoming films and television shows. The Diner offers customized ads and even merchandise that can be used to generate your project into a smash hit.

Ste: And finally, How much is it to Dine there?

Currently the cost is $3 million, but occasionally we’ll offer special deals and prices, so keep an eye out!

Well, I get a free visit there courtesy of Marlowe later, which should be fun. I’m hoping I don’t bump into William Shatner or Chuck Norris though.

Ste, over and out!

More Opinion and Observations from the Busy Bee

More news and rumors to waste some time on. What’s happening?

Home updates have been a little slow over the last couple of weeks, though they are being done. Reports Marlowe, who does his fair share of those updates: “I’ve been working like crazy lately, averaging 80 hours a week. When I get home, I barely have time to take my shoes off before I want to hit the hay. I have a day off coming, so we should see some catching up going on.”

Citizen-initiated events are apoppin’ everywhere! McCharisma and company are having their hobo party. Ninja’s throwing a Halloween bash at her Book & Brew. I’m looking forward to seeing what’s next.

My good friend and mayoral candidate Mr. T hasn’t been answering his phone. I even dropped by Club Siberia to chat with him, but the operator of Mr. T’s Bodyguard Service was nowhere to be seen. If you come across the famed HTG Hollywood resident, please have him give me a holler.

HTG running out of real estate? The city map is quickly being bought up (or at least given away at casino). Will more homes and offices be available soon? “We’ll be breaking up some medium homes to make some smaller ones,” remarked HTG Uber-Real Estate Agent Ritchie Stevens. As for the rumor that real estate prices will increase because of the limited space becoming available, RS would not comment.

DominatinMVP just spent several million dollars for a library addition to his home. Does he plan on purchasing a lot of books? No, libraries at your home increase the item volume. Need some more space at home? Consider a library at Men at Work Construction.

Enough for now. Gotta see who’s over in the chatroom not talking. Luego.
